My Story

Hello! I’m Nicole, a recovering scientist turned baker. My very midwestern childhood was filled with moments of baking bliss. Love was given freely by my mom, aunts, and grandmothers in the form of special holiday sugar cookies, a sliver of pie in the afternoon over a game of rummy, or sharing a piping hot elephant ear with my giggling (or squabbling) cousins.

At some point along the way, I lost track of these moments of happiness. I was trudging along in a pharmaceutical career that wasn’t bringing me joy, focused on checking all the boxes and doing whatever I was “supposed to do.” As the pandemic began, I started reaching out to friends by doing door-to-door deliveries of whatever sweet treat I thought they might enjoy.  The last few years have been a slow, sometimes bumpy awakening to the realization that baking is how I want to connect with people and make the world a better place one cookie at a time.

My experiments now happen in our kitchen and include exploring how to make familiar flavor profiles a bit more interesting or making the ice cream just a bit smoother and creamier. Let's not forget the time I reached the conclusion not all vegan egg substitutes behave the same way - I did end up with one very large cookie.

I specialize in breakfast treats, cookies, brownies, ice cream, and sorbet. Blending my love of science and my love of baking, my dream is to foster love and connection through food.

After feeding my husband Anthony, our doggo Duncan, and friends for the last few years, I decided I want to share my delicious creations with the DMV (and beyond!). Thankfully, they are willing to share.

Love,

Baking for Change

I was fortunate enough to participate in #BakersAgainstRacism campaign. We raised more than $1,300 and delivered 40 orders in just a few days. I am committed to using food as a force for change, which is why a portion of all proceeds go to So Others Might Eat and DC Greens
